The Client
Designing Digitally partnered with an undisclosed client facing the challenge of teaching leadership and coaching skills to a diverse workforce. The organization previously utilized Instructor Led Training (ILT) and traditional eLearning, but found that the training was not effectively retained or applied in the workplace.
The need arose for a customized solution that would engage learners in a scenario-based learning game, specifically tailored to coaching and mentoring in leadership skills. The result was the creation of the “Coaching Champions” Serious Game.

The Challenge
The undisclosed client confronted the difficulty of imparting leadership and coaching skills to their diverse workforce. Past attempts through ILT and traditional eLearning modules failed to ensure retention and application in real-world scenarios. The challenge was to find a solution that could engage learners effectively and encourage critical thinking about approaching life-like scenarios with employees.
The solution
Designing Digitally employed our innovative learning approach to recommend a game-based scenario learning experience. The objective was to coach and train managers to become effective organizational leaders. The “Coaching Champions” Serious Game was developed as an interactive gaming learning experience with gamification elements. This allowed a serious interaction to become fun, engaging, and entertaining while addressing real-life scenarios in the workplace. The game’s randomization of interactions ensured a unique gameplay experience for learners each time. The compatibility with tablets, including iPad, and functionality within the Learning Management System using SCORM were crucial components of the solution.
The IMPACT
The results of the “Coaching Champions” Serious Game were resoundingly successful for the undisclosed client. Positive feedback poured in from both management and employees. The course was launched within their Learning Management System using SCORM and delivered to supervisory and middle-level management, aiding them in understanding how to become effective leaders. The scenarios encountered in the game mirrored those they would handle throughout their careers. Tens of thousands of employees globally have already experienced this serious game, and its continued delivery promises ongoing positive results for the organization.
