The Client

ONE Gas, Inc. is a stand-alone, 100 percent regulated, publicly traded natural gas utility and is one of the largest natural gas utilities in the United States.

The Challenge

ONE Gas, Inc., one of the largest natural gas utilities in the United States, teamed up with Designing Digitally to create the custom eLearning experience, ONE Gas Culture and Resources Training.

The training challenge the company presented was updating non-measurable, outdated instructor-led new hire onboarding, replacing it with technology-enhanced training that leverages interactivity, gamification, and scenario-based learning.

In addition to onboarding, this training solution would offer ONE Gas employees workplace performance support and upskilling tools. The program was to provide on-demand job aides, offer resources familiarizing employees with proprietary information, and share access to the latest L&D opportunities. 

The company required accurate ways to track progress and measure the impact of learning and development on employees and the company’s overall success.

The solution

Designing Digitally collaborated with ONE Gas to create a customized training program for internal employees. The primary focus was on the customer life cycle of natural gas services from beginning to end. Staff members explore different areas that are part of the unique process master product knowledge about ONE Gas in the face of customer satisfaction, and receive supporting resources to provide further product information and the customer experience.

Some key topics employees encounter during training include: Company history and background, Roles and responsibilities within processes, Defining legal issues, accounting practices, and compliance regulations, Maximizing customer satisfaction and Maintaining profitability

Now implemented into the onboarding strategy, the ONE Gas Culture and Resources training program allows new employees to start work knowing how to respond to life cycle questions and follow steps to improve the customer experience. This solution enables learners to apply knowledge and become experts in ONE Gas and natural gas products.

ONE Gas provides quality learning experiences through this innovative program that improves retention rates, elevates ROI, and provides the needed insight to measure, evaluate, and evolve learning and development.
